Impossible to cancel a Virgin Active debit order - beware!!!
Having been a member of Virgin Active Melrose Arch for many years, I formally terminated my membership with the customer representative at Melrose Arch in June 2019, but month after month the Virgin Active debit order still went off my account and I contacted Virgin Active and got assurances it would be stopped but was eventually forced to instruct my Bank to reject these charges every month, which they did, but Virgin Active just re-instated it month after month. During 2020, with all the distractions of lock down, I did not reconcile my bank statements and only started doing this again a few months ago, only to see that Virgin Active continue to debit me every month. Today I will try and contact someone of seniority at Virgin Active to stop this debit order and write to the Consumer Ombudsman, Hello Peter and a lawyer to claim two full years of monthly charges, but to all considering putting a debit order in place at Virgin Active, PLEASE DO NOT - they run great gyms but their admin (at best)and their poor business practice ( at worst) could cost you a fortune !!!
