Finally, in 2004 - exactly a decade after the advent of democracy in our country – the university became the Mafikeng Campus of the newly created North-West University.
Since the merger, the Campus has benefited from significant investment in Show more its academic and student infrastructure. New student residences have been constructed, as have new Animal Health facilities, computer laboratories and laboratories for the Centre for Applied Radiation Science and Technology, amongst others.
Access roads, parking facilities and security at the Campus have also been dramatically improved through an intensive macro maintenance programme funded by the NWU and the Department of Education’s Merger Fund.
Today, the Mafikeng Campus is the second-largest NWU campus and it is the alma mater of numerous top Southern African business and sports leaders.
