I take the opportunity to share similar experience experience with AVIS as Nadine and Matsepete made. One might be tempted to develop strange theories reading 3 similar statements out of a total of 5 reviews.
Avis agent in Capetown Airport found a very very superficial damage on one of the tyres, and I definitely mean superficial.
AVIS consequently charged my credit card with the equivalent of USD 900.-- without even showing the professionalism of sending me a report by e-mail. USD 900.-- for one tyre of a standard Hyundai SUV.
We had a very pleasant stay in South Africa and were alays treated in a friendly and honest manner, the only unpleasant experience is with AVIS

Hello ,
I am just sharing my wonderful experience which i had last saturday when travelking from Da Vinci hotel to the airport. Mr Eric came to pick me at the hotel . He is such a nice person who is very professional , courteous and communicates so well. I really enjoyed my trip with this person and i learnt quite things from him. His determination , commitment and willingness to succeed is indeed a model to follow and an example to be used to motivate people. I wish Eric lots of success in his career and his life.
I wish to meet him again.

Ek het n motor gehuur by Avis in Germiston Lake. Die motor het 'n teken in die kar nan "NO SMOKING"
Die motor het so erg geruik na rook dat ek skaars kon asemhaal. Dit is onaanvaarbaar . Ek het bronchitis en het vreeslik gehoes. Is dit hoe julle werkers die motors skoonmaak. Ek sal aanbeveel dat as iemand 'n motor terugneem , dan moet die persoon van Avis gaan kyk of daar in die motors gerook is en dit van hul deposito aftrek want nou moet mense soos ek die ongerief verdra van die stink motor. Ek het 'n blik anti tobacco spray gaan koop en die hele blik binne in die motor uitgespuit en die kar ruik nogsteeds na ROOK. Ek sal in die vervolg by 'n ander plek 'n kar huur. Julle mense het ook tor ek die motor gaan haal het glad nie proffesioneel opgetree nie.Dankie.

Offices not answering their telephones during business hours, excuses made for my deposit not being paid back 6 weeks after returning my vehicle. I will never use AVIS again in my life.

I recently rented avis car.they refused to give my deposit back claiming that I had finished their tyres in 1 day.they now sending me sms that I owed them 7000.for tyres of i10.never use avis anymore

I have needed 3 hire cars recently. I went to Avis in the Strand. I have never ever encountered such excellent service from each & every member of the team. They were professional & courteous at all times!!
You are very lucky to have employyes of that caliber in your organization.
I have been in retail for 20 years, and know how important good service is!!
